      Editorial:Don't rob tax payers to pay defaulters

A UPFA member of the Maharagama Municipal Council Sunil Ranasinghe died on Monday after being assaulted. A constable attached to the Maharagama Police and another suspect were arrested over his killing.

A post-mortem was conducted at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital yesterday and according to the Judicial Medical Officer death had occurred due to heart failure. It was also revealed that the deceased had undergone a heart surgery.

According to police investigations a van carrying the victim, his son and a few others had collided with a three wheeler...

Sri Lanka gets IMF loan in eight instalments
Finance and State Revenue Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya yesterday (21), informed the House that the International Monetary Fund had agreed to grant a US$ 2.5-million loan facility to Sri Lanka and the first tranche would be received on July 24.

F&G depositors’ protest today
Several hundreds of depositors of F & G Property Developers Ltd, F & G Real Estate Company Ltd and F and G Company will demonstrate outside the Supreme Court today (July 22) calling for expediting investigations and recovery of their funds.
