One person died when Police opened fire and three Policemen were injured and admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in a confrontation at a house where illicit liquor was being sold.

Three policemen dressed in civvies had conducted a raid on the illicit liquor joint at Indigasketiya on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as M. Karunaratane.

SI Priyankara, PC Ariyaratane and PC Navaratne who were injured admitted to hospital.
