The Vavuniya-Kebitigollewa Road closed for the past three years was reopened for traffic on Monday afternoon. All SLTB buses of both Vavuniya and Kebitigollewa depots have commenced usual services.

The road was closed for traffic following an LTTE bomb blast targeting a SLTB bus at Yakawewa three years ago that killed over 80 civilian passengers including school children.

The road was overgrown with weeds and was impassable for traffic and the Army cleared it.
