Thirteen patients suffering from Dengue and Japanese Encephalitis have been admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital.

According to Hospital sources this is the first time seven dengue patients have been admitted on a single day. Following this, steps have been taken to conduct blood checks on all patients seeking treatment with a history of fever.

The public complain that health authorities in Vavuniya failed to adopte proper measures to contain the spread of dengue.
