Kandy - Announcing the beginning of the Kandy annual Esala Perahera this year the customary erection of ‘Kap’ takes place at all Vihares and devales headed by the four main devales of Kandy today (22), at the auspicious time of 9.53 a.m.

According to the Perahera programme issued by Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela the ‘Kap’ should be planted at the devales facing North.

A Perahera in the form of an offering to the guardian duties will be conducted in the precints of the devales from today (22) till July 26.

The Kumbal Perahera will begin on July 27. The first Kumbal Perahera will leave the Sri Dalada Maligawa environs at 7.20 p.m. on July 27 and will parade along Dalada Veediya, D. S. Senanayake Veediya, Pansala Para, Deva Veediya, Sir Bennet Soysa Veediya, E. L. Senanayake Veediya and Raja Veediya.

Randoli Perahera begins on August 01 to continue till August 05 to be followed by the Day Perahera on August 06.
