Moratuwa police arrested a Pradeshiya Sabha member of the Moratuwa Urban Council who had assaulted a police constable when the Pradeshiya Sabha member (UNP) had gone to the police station demanding the release of a suspect drug addict arrested by the police yesterday (7).

SSP Willie Abeynayake, Mt Lavinia police said the suspect had wanted to get the arrested drug addict released from police custody and had assaulted the constable when the police refused to release the man.
